Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Specialist schedules and coordinates the efficient distribution of material, establishes and maintains inventory accuracy, and aligns Customer Demand and Operation Capacity to fill Orders Ontime and Complete. Their duties include analysis of Inventory Valuation and Accuracy status to Goal, manage Rotating Cycle Counts and daily material transactions, and utilization of CRP to support the management of work orders and increase planned material flow with Shipping schedules.
Essential Functions:
- Confirm that Material needs, for the next Production work orders, have been physically confirmed according to JDE inventory and that plans/Production timing are identified to coordinate staging. This means looking ahead and identifying if/where inventory inaccuracies exist BEFORE they become high risk and jeopardize Customer Orders
- Be prepared to identify Production progress to plan with Management during daily Staff Meeting with Upfit Facilities
- Create inventory accuracy confidence by managing Rotating Cycle Count PFEP, move by correcting in JDE with viable reasoning for lessons learned, and create culture amongst material handlers to transfer and stage inventory with accuracy for availability and upcoming Production
- Perform rotating weekly inventory accuracy audits by location to identify % accuracy in location by P/N and quantity
- Continuously work with Production Supervisors and Managers to drive the Priority of what must be built by P/N through metal fab to feed downstream operations in paint, assembly, and shipping for Upfit Builds and Customer Orders out the door
- Identify and escalate Manufacturing bottlenecks with Management
- Once caught up on Customer Backlog, transition to using the CRP Rollover as priority to avoid the risk of going past due on Customer Orders
- Manage Total Inventory Valuation, Aging trends, Disposition of Dormant/Dead Inventory, to support current Goals and project achievable longer term goals
- Utilize the Strategic Physical Inventory Plan and supervise all physical precounting of inventory that will not move and physical inventory counting during our plant shutdown
- Identify and maintain JDE system setting Parameters, to achieve sufficient inventory levels are produced and held (safety stock), while avoiding stock out of needed parts and existence of parts without demand
- Develop our Visual Plant Inventory Layout Plan to optimize part routing and minimize catchall bulk inventory locations
- Identify Demand Horizons, using customer orders, historical order trends, forecasts, to load into the JDE Forecast to establish Equipment Capacity % Utilization vs Production Staffing
- Follow established safety guidelines, instructions, policies, and procedures
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and an ERP system (JDE preferred)
- Problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level
Qualifications:
- A healthy attitude for dealing with people-to-people communication
- Knowledge and experience in health and safety standards and compliance, production and manufacturing processes, techniques and tools, process improvement techniques, raw materials, quality systems and standards, and practices with solid computer skills
Educational Requirements:
- Required Credentials: Bachelor's degree in supply chain or related field with at least 2 years relevant experience. Or, 10 years of relevant experience working in a distribution and/or manufacturing position
