Inventory Management Specialist - U.S. Coast Guard

Summary This vacancy is for a GS-2010-12, Inventory Management Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center, Long Range Surveillance (LRS) Product Line, LRS Supply Branch in Elizabeth City, NC. Responsibilities This position's primary purpose is to analytical work in managing, regulating, coordinating, or otherwise exercising control for a complete category of highly complex materials. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Planning, expediting, forecasting, coordinating, analyzing, resolving and reporting on all supply involvements pertaining to material or systems managed. Developing and managing a budget for procurement of material and services in support of managed items. Resolving issues and controlling actions in an inventory management function for a complete category of materials such as avionics, engines, or airframes, or an entire aircraft system. Developing and maintaining working relationships with inventory managers of other services/agencies and with program managers of major contractors dealing with US Coast Guard Inventory Control. Assisting the Supply Cell Leader (supervisor) in the development of long-range forecasts covering the current year and up to five (5) years in the future for material support responsibilities and estimating budgetary needs. Developing and preparing communication such as: standards, local guides, proposals, messages, letters or initiates correspondence to exchange information, resolve critical issues; or relay supply decisions to complete communications regarding all actions. Requirements Conditions of Employment All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures. Status applicants applying for a promotion must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade. Key Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. This is a Bargaining Unit position. Time in Grade requirement must be met by the closing date of the vacancy. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Managing a complete category of complex materials when conducting inventory management Reducing the necessity for emergency procurement actions through planning and forecasting Developing recommendations, as they relate to inventory management, through evaluation Addressing unusual inventory management problems Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
