Overall Objectives of Position
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining the Facilities Department tools and supplies. Oversees inventory and orders additional products, supplies, and tools as needed. Inspects tools/supplies when returned for damage, safety issues, and restocks supplies as needed. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of this position. The Inventory Specialist is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs.
The Inventory Specialist is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.
Primary Responsibilities of the Inventory Specialist
- Receives materials and supplies from vendors.
- Operates a forklift to unload/load materials.
- Responsible for working with required inventory software.
- Works independently on task that are assigned by the appropriate person.
- Maintains documents, files, and warranty information related to inventory.
- Requests and receives quotes from vendors to restock inventory.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate person
- Assists the Facilities Construction and Maintenance team as needed.
- Assigns tools/supplies to Facilities team as needed.
- Inspects tools as returned for damage or safety issues.
- Keeps Facilities warehouse clean and organized daily.
- Accepts and restocks new inventory from suppliers.
Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of six (6) months of employment experience with inventory software.
- Must have Forklift certification or must obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
- Must have OSHA 10 certification or must obtain within one hundred eighty (180) days of employment.
- One (1) year of employment experience working in a warehouse/inventory setting preferred.
Skills Required
- Absolute confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a high performance, fast paced, high pressure environment.
- Must have excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be people oriented and relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
- Outstanding organizational skills that are necessary for issuing and receiving inventory.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient and timely manner.
- Must has problem solving skills to come up with ways to improve overall efficiency and overcome inventory problems.
Additional Requirements
- Facilities services are subject to 24/7 on-call assignments as deemed necessary for Tribal Government Operations.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
