About the Job
Responsibilities of the Investment Accountant:·Focuses on Accounting for investments. Will do month-end close for the wholebusiness, including subsidiaries each with its own investment portfolio. Theyuse software to track and need to look at and understand the gaps behind it.More high-level review from the system.·Supervising the accounting functions for existing business as well asfacilitating the implementation of new business.·Reviewing and approving certain deliverables prepared by the Senior Accountantsand Accountants and is responsible for staff training and the professionaldevelopment of all direct reports.·Coordinating with Accounting Management to ensure the timeliness of the monthlyaccounting close process pursuant to the close calendar.·Overseeing the implementation of new business (start-up, acquisitions, jointventures, etc.) as it relates to all areas of responsibility.·Implementing and testing of new systems and processes as they relate to theaccounting functions.·Facilitating employee training and ensuring the professional development of alldirect reports.·Reviewing and approving certain journal entries and account reconciliationsprepared by the Senior Accountants and Accountants.·Facilitating and ensuring the effectiveness of the internal control process asit relates to the relevant areas of responsibility.·Assisting and/or overseeing the assistance provided to the Financial Reportingteam in the preparation of the financial deliverables as needed.·Preparing and/or reviewing certain audit deliverables to ensure timely andaccurate accounting deliverables.·Acting as a technical and operational resource for all direct reports tosupport daily functions.·Identifying process inefficiencies, recommending efficient processalternatives, and facilitating the implementation of process improvements as itrelates to the areas of responsibility.·Preparing and/or reviewing Statutory information related to Cash andInvestmentsRequirements of the Investment Accountant:· bachelor’s degree is required in Accounting or Finance.·Three to five years of progressive accounting experience required.·Two to four years of GAAP investment accounting experience required.·STAT reporting experience preferred.·One to three years of supervisory experience preferred.·Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.·Solid understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)and application thereof.·Experience with PeopleSoft of similar ERP system preferred.·Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, andPowerPoint.·Experience at a public accounting firm preferred.Benefits of the Investment Accountant:·Medical Insurance·Dental Insurance·Vision Insurance·Life Insurance·Short Term / Long Term Disability·401 (k) – Profit Sharing
