Position: IP Docketing Specialist
Location: Los Angeles, Century City, Orange County, Del Mar, San Diego, San Francisco, or Silicon Valley, CA (Remote position with occasional in-office requirements; must be based near one of the listed locations)
Pay: $75,000 to $105,000 annually
Experience:
- 3+ years experience in U.S. and Foreign trademark prosecution docketing to be responsible for maintaining deadlines and accurate data in the database on client matters pertaining to trademark prosecution and maintaining electronic files in the IP document management system.
- Previous experience with docketing software (CPI, Inprotech, Foundation IP, IP Manager) is required.
Education: High school diploma required.
Type: Full-time; Direct Hire
Schedule: Day Shift, 9:00am to 5:30pm (Overtime flexibility needed)

Job Description:
- Reviewing and analyzing incoming client mail, email, and faxes to determine due or reminder dates and entering related information.
- Processing and forwarding information regarding dates entered.
- Save appropriate communications in the IP document management system.
- Review USPTO filing acknowledgement receipts and outgoing Client and Foreign Associate correspondence and update docketing database accordingly by closing/adding appropriate comments and docket dates.
- Prepare reports for attorneys and staff.
- Follow up on daily dockets and inform Director of IP Administration and Responsible/Billing attorney if any have not yet been satisfied by close of business each day.
- Update all information in docketing database on a daily basis as indicated by attorneys/staff or as indicated from client/foreign associate correspondence.
- Assist other docket specialists in double-checking to ensure all dates docketed by that specialist are accurate.
- Full knowledge of U.S. and Foreign trademark prosecution lifecycle process.
- Maintaining accurate data in the docketing database and eFiles in IP document management system.
- Clear and transparent communication with the attorneys, staff and Director of IP Administration.
Position Requirements:
- Must have strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Knowledge with resources such as TDSR, WIPO Madrid System, and other International IP law databases and thorough knowledge of procedures and practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is required.
- TTAB rules are preferred.
- Critical thinking skills and ability to troubleshoot with clear and concise communication, and outstanding attention to detail.
