About the Job
The Iron Worker is responsible for fabricating new pieces and then using these fabrications for building the final product. We require a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to three years related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Steel fabrication - Steel, wood, construction, pouring of concrete, setting forms and finishing
- Building repair - Roofing, siding, sloshing, overhead doors, man doors and windows
- Rebuilding, bricking and plumbing of all electrical furnaces
- Wear required safety equipment. Follow all applicable procedures and instructions
REQUIREMENTS
- On-the-job training
- Blue print reading
- Mobile Crane operation safety course, including proper rigging procedures
- Certified Welder's Certificate preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
