About the Job
The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of IS Infrastructure Supervisor to lead the server and infrastructure team.
DEFINITION
Under general direction, the individual selected for this position supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for the design, analysis, installation, management, configuration, maintenance, and repair of the County's information technology infrastructure; including virtual environment, cloud computing, active directory domain services, storage environment, data center management, disaster recovery solutions, and backup environment. The individual selected for this position also ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures, performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility, and performs related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from assigned higher level manager.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This is a full supervisory-level class in the IS systems specialist classification series that exercises independent judgment on diverse and specialized information services functions and has significant accountability and ongoing decision-making responsibilities associated with the work. The incumbent organizes and oversees day-to-day information services activities, projects, and programs for a major section within the division and is responsible for providing professional-level support to the management team in a variety of areas. This class is distinguished from other supervisors in the department by supervising staff primarily assigned to infrastructure support functions. This classification is further distinguished from the Program Manager in that the latter has management authority in planning, organizing, and directing the full scope of information technology operations within an assigned unit of the department.
