About the Job
Argonne National Laboratory is seeking an Isotope Program Manager for our Radioisotope Research and Production Program (R2P2). The candidate will be responsible for managing the Isotope Science and Engineering Program within the Nuclear Technologies and National Security Directorate. This program focuses on the synthesis, recovery and purification of medical radioisotopes with exceptional promise for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The Isotope Program Manager will be the primary technical point-of-contact for Argonne with the Office of Isotope Research, Development and Production and be responsible for leading planning, including strategy development, and managing the day-to-day activities and personnel of the program. This role will lead a matrixed, cross-laboratory team and will work closely with the Isotope Production Manager and technical staff executing programmatic activities. The Program Manager will be responsible for guiding isotope research including the transition of new isotopes from R&D to production. The candidate will lead the development of experimental plans and safety documentation, experimentation and data analysis.
The Isotope Program Manager will also be responsible for developing novel methods and procedures for medical isotope production using the LINAC at Argonne’s Low Energy Accelerator Facility and conducting R&D focused on the separation (e.g., solvent extraction, ion exchange) of a wide spectrum of radionuclides including medical isotopes, lanthanides and actinides. The candidate is expected to have experience with techniques such as UV-Vis, NMR, FTIR, and electrochemistry with systems containing radioactive elements.
