We are looking for an experienced IT Analyst to support capacity planning and management for Comcast's advanced video ops team (VIPER Operations).
In this highly visible position, you will help balance the capacity estimates from Engineering and Analytics teams with real-world observations of usage within our operation, supporting improved estimation and effective augment timing.
Candidates with prior work experience in IT cloud computing & distributed systems, Cisco networking, and/or Web service operations as well as work experience using Linux, VMware, Splunk & other ops skills is required.
Experience in a highly accountable industry where KPI measurement and accountability is the norm is a plus.
This role reports into IP video operations (VIPER Operations).

- 5+ years exposed to IT infrastructure and cloud computing and distributed system operations, deployments, and upgrades.
- Linux systems administration and Web service operations experience.
- Professional experience in ops tools: VMware, Nagios/Op5, Splunk

Key Accountabilities
- Work with the Capacity Management PM to quantify current capacity vs. the modeled projections from our Engineering & Analytics colleagues.
- Use available operational tools to assess capacity usage (VMware, Splunk, Nagios/Op5) and effectively interview technical staff from Ops and Eng to glean the best sources of insight: tools, people, databases, etc.
- Leverage your own technical acumen as well as team strengths to ask insightful questions and apply the right tools to resolve blockers.
- Catalogue and socialize your recommendations in coordination with the Capacity Mgmt PM to improve predictability long-term.
- 5+ years exposed to IT infrastructure and cloud computing and distributed system operations, deployments, and upgrades.
- Linux systems administration and Web service operations experience.
- Professional experience in ops tools: VMware, Nagios/Op5, Splunk
- Cisco networking certifications and/or solid foundation in Cisco networking and cloud compute.
- Scripting skills to facilitate your work: Ruby, Python, or other
- Prior technical role in an accountable field, e.g. Banking, Finance, Advertising, Marketing or other highly accountable, data-driven vertical.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing matrix org.
- Ability to quickly establish credibility grounded in technical acumen.
- Excellent ability to translate technical findings to strategic leaders.
- 5+ years deploying, operating, triaging Web and/or IP video.
- Querying skills (R, SQL) to pull from large data stores, e.g. Hadoop.
- Hadoop, MongoDB, T-SQL, PL/SQL, MS SQL Server
- Tableau; R, Spec-R, Python; SOAP, XML Web svcs
- BS in Math, Computer Science, or equivalent experiences a plus.
