Position Overview:
Leads the technology strategy and operations for the Core Technology areas, including Compute, Cloud, Database, Monitoring and Storage teams. In this role, the IT Director will oversee the implementation of key projects, technology and maintenance activities, aligning technology with business outcomes. The IT Director will work closely with executive management to identify and execute technology solutions to drive efficiency and growth.
Performance requirements
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Develop and execute the IT strategy, considering long-term goals and emerging technologies.
- Provide leadership and direction to the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with senior management to identify and prioritize technology initiatives.
- Lead and manage the team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
Infrastructure and Systems:
- Maintain and enhance the organization’s hardware, software, and application infrastructure.
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of systems.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure.
- Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of all IT systems and services.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Create and manage the IT budget, optimizing resource allocation.
- Evaluate cost-effective solutions and negotiate vendor contracts.
- Recommend cost saving opportunities to other IT areas.
Security and Compliance:
- Partner with the Director of Security and Compliance to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
- Help drive the security agenda within the organization and report on progress for areas of scope.
Project Management:
- Lead and manage IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of technology solutions.
- Evaluate and mitigate project risks, ensuring project goals are met.
Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effective services.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure the best terms for the organization.
- Monitor vendor performance and address any issues.
Work Experience and education requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience/education combination.
- Proven experience in IT leadership roles, preferably in the retail industry.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proficient in network and systems management, cybersecurity, cloud computing, database and storage technologies.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team, including offshore, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

This role can be performed from most locations within the US; however, the preferred location of the ideal candidate would be Columbus, OH, Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN or Duluth, MN - frequent on-site presence will be expected.
The compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements. The range of pay budgeted for this role is: $135,000 - 150,000 annualized, with additional incentive compensation and benefits.
