POSITION REPORTS TO: IT Engineering Manager
SUMMARY: The IT Engineer 2 is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity. This role involves managing servers, networks, and cloud platforms, ensuring operations' stability, security, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a robust technical background, particularly in cybersecurity, with experience in infrastructure management and incident response. The IT Engineer 2 will collaborate with other IT professionals to troubleshoot issues, optimize system performance, and safeguard the organization against cyber threats.
LOCATION: San Antonio, TX (onsite)
SHIFT HOURS: 9am-5pm (Occasional after-hours work may be required)
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field is a plus
- 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, network administration, or cybersecurity roles.
- Proficiency in server management (Windows and/or Linux), network configuration, and cloud platforms (e.g., Nutanix, Azure, Kaseya, Sentinel One).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and experience with security tools.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or CISM are strongly preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to stay current with emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, and industry trends.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain secure server environments and network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance.
- Configure and manage network devices, including advanced firewalls, VPNs, and security gateways.
- Continuously monitor and enhance the security of the organization's IT infrastructure.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests, addressing any identified risks.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans, leading investigations into security breaches.
- Provide advanced technical support with a focus on identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities.
- Train end-users on cybersecurity best practices and document related processes and procedures.
- Lead or participate in IT projects, ensuring security is a primary consideration in all implementations.
- Ensure IT systems comply with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Collaborate with compliance teams to maintain adherence to security policies and protocols.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and cybersecurity trends to recommend and implement improvements.
- Travel may be required for training, conferences, or remote site support.
- Participate in an on-call duty rotation that includes nights and weekends.
