Description
We are in search of an IT Finance Manager in Kent, Washington, who will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between Finance and Legal in the IT sector. This role requires a strong financial background and familiarity with the digital nature of IT assets, capitalization, and funding sources. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focusing on the public sector's shift towards Cloud/SaaS solutions, custom development, and security. The position offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the IT administration team in improving internal processes within the budget, accounting, and contract domains.
- Collaborate with Department Finance/Contract teams on capital project funding and ongoing accounting needs.
- Manage the asset and capitalization aspects across the IT space, including understanding Subscription Based IT Assets (SBITA) and custom development assets.
- Perform financial analytics for budget forecasting, total cost of ownership, and determining funding sources for project work and staffing.
- Coordinate with Finance and Legal regarding all renewals and new procurements, ensuring the understanding of rules and regulations of the city code, sales/use taxes, contract amendments, and handling yearly IT budget.
- Explore possible grants for IT leverage, a new initiative for the IT department.
- Ensure proper capitalization of IT projects on a yearly basis and at 'Go Live' instances, working closely with the Finance Accounting Manager for stronger alignment for yearly state audits.
Requirements - Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is essential for this role.
- Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions is required.
- Previous experience in Auditing is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Budget Processes is crucial.
- Knowledge of Capital Management is a must.
- Understanding of Intangible Asset is necessary.
- Experience with Capitalization is expected.
