IT Intern
Job Description:
Van Beek Natural Science is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Intern to join our team. As an IT Intern, you will work closely with our IT department to support the company's technology infrastructure and assist in various IT projects. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with help desk calls, scheduling, and tickets.
- Provide technical assistance and support to Van Beek Natural Science employees.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues to ensure efficient operations.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and software.
- Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
- Perform system backups and ensure data integrity.
- Support the setup and maintenance of office equipment and audio/visual systems.
- Help maintain inventory of hardware, software licenses, and IT supplies.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of IT policies and procedures.
- Assist in research and evaluation of new technologies and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with the IT team to execute IT projects and initiatives.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
- Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Basic understanding of Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be a Junior or Senior in college.
- Previous experience in providing IT support or working in an IT-related role.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Understanding of IT security best practices.
Note: This is an internship position, and candidates must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution.
