Summary:
The IT Specialist shall be directly support the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Division of Logistics Services (DLS) for inventory and equipment. The Information Technology (IT) specialist will be responsible for determining if received IT property equipment is functional or non-functional and if all personal data/information has been removed in accordance with the NIH Sanitization Policy.
The work for the NIHSC Warehouse will be performed at 16071 Industrial Drive, Gaithersburg, MD, and at the NIH Supply Store, Building 10, Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Will determine if excess computer equipment is able to be redeployed back to the ICs for reissue while still meeting current NIH IT security requirements.
- Determine if excess computer equipment is able to be placed with the Direct Donation area for Donees.
- Ensure that all hard drives that arrive to the PRDS as excess are wiped and or destroyed so no PPI or other forms of data can be obtained.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Linux, or Mac OS environments, as well as familiarity with network and server management.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for supporting users at all technical levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a college degree and at least (3) years of experience or a high school diploma and five (5) years’ experience.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- US citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
The salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 annually.
