DutiesMajor duties for this position include, but are not limited to:Provide subject matter expertise and technical support for the planning, installation, configuration, testing, implementation, and management of the systems environment in support of the organization's IT architecture and business needs.Plan and coordinate the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.Direct, plan and coordinate infrastructure support technical activities with other OCIO and DOL staff who are involved with agency computer systems and related activities.Provide advisory/consultation services to the Division's senior management staff regarding network operations policy, procedures and management issues.Identify and resolve daily network operations problems, and collaborate with Division staff on problems and situations involving cable plant maintenance and network design issues.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements Conditions of EmploymentMust be at least 16 years old.Must be a U.S
Citizen.Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.Subject to pre-employment and random drug tests
QualificationsYou must meet the Basic Requirements and the Specialized Experience to qualify for IT Specialist (Network), as described below.Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.AND
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-13, in the Federal Service.Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.Qualifying specialized experience for GS-14 includes:Experience implementing, managing, and performing the daily operations and maintenance of enterprise-wide telecom and Unified Communications platforms and services across an organization.Experience leading staff and subject matter experts in all facets of telecom and Unified Communications
Experience establishing standards, policies, plans, and governance in telecom and Unified Communications.Education
