Position Overview:An IT Support Specialist is responsible for assisting customers with technical issues or questions relating to computer hardware or software devices. Their duties include taking phone calls from customers or communicating with them through messaging platforms, helping customers diagnose technical issues over the phone and speaking with them about installing hardware or software on their computers, and or assisting with hardware installations. A successful IT support specialist must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate will have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. The goal is to build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology on business sustainability.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Act as the initial point of contact for all computer and system related concerns from clients or other employees;
- Assist with new hire account creation and required IT setup and configuration;
- Decommission accounts and computer systems for termed employees;
- Assist with file server/shared drive management and file permissions for employees;
- Assist with management of Anti-Virus and computer security systems for the company;
- Assist management in creating training materials pertaining to computer troubleshooting and usage;
- Organize and file documentation pertaining to warranties and instructional guides for computer hardware;
- Maintain building network equipment and documentation / Firewalls and Routers etc.;
- Install and configure computer systems, hardware and peripherals;
- Assist with purchasing and installing new computer systems and IT equipment;
- Have experience supporting Windows and Mac OS;
- Have experience with Microsoft Office 365 Admin center;
- Other duties may be assigned as need by management;
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
- Comfortable working in and assisting others through company help desk software, such as ConnectWise ScreenConnect in addition to other remote access desktop programs;
- Accept constructive criticism and customer feedback regarding their experience with software or IT services;
- Be a self-starter and be able to manage day to day tasks to prioritize incoming requests and meet deadlines;
- Extensive experience working with different operating systems including Windows and Mac OS;
- Experience supporting core Office365 applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
- Professional written and interpersonal skills are essential when communicating with customers and clients;
- Experience installing and configuring computer systems and applications for a large company.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred;
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one to three months’ related experience and/or training in administrative support and/or payroll administration required;
- CompTIA A and/or Network Industry Certifications are a plus;
- 1-3 years of proven experience in a heavy customer focus position involving and technical knowledge of a companies' products and services;
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard;
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work;
- Light to moderate lifting may be required;
- Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate;
- Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic);
- Ability to work in a confined area;
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

Compensation Range for this position is: $25.96 to $29.81 per hour.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.
