You will report to our Director of Cloud Engineering and be responsible for daily management of the core aspects of our Microsoft and VMware footprint. We use an external consulting firm for engineering, buildout and help-desk. You will be the operator and will work with the consultants to extend and maintain our capabilities.
Within six weeks, you are expected to manage all core support and maintenance for the MS and Vmware environment. That includes Entra/AD, Defender EDR/XDR, Intune, and patching for the MS servers. Within 3 months, your responsibilities will extend to VMware patching, managing network functions such as DNS, proxies, SMTP, and being able to operate our DR run book.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience managing groups of virtualized MS servers, including active directory, networking, security and permissions management
- Intermediate knowledge and experience with MS Entra, Intune and Defender EDR/XDR
- Experience with VMware Vcenter, VM settings, VMotion and monitoring
- Basic experience with Linux - Debian variants or RHEL
- A desire to acquire new knowledge related to systems design/management and a demonstrated ability to accomplish that on a self-directed basis.
- Excellent communication and collaboration sills. Ability to write and maintain technical documentation
- Work in our San Francisco office at least 1 day per week during your first year.
Other Desirable Experience
- SAN storage management, preferably Pure Storage
- AWS in a hybrid cloud environment
- Scripting-level proficiency in a modern programming language, Python preferred
- Working with containers
- Orchestration and monitoring with any modern tooling
- Jira and Confluence
Range stated is for base salary only. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge and skills. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, flexible time off and a 401(k) plan.
