JOB SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, responsible for the availability, reliability, performance and maintenance of supported systems, software and applications. This includes future design, implementations and operational support for Microsoft Windows, VMware, Hyper-V, storage and backup platforms. Works with IT staff in training employees on IT equipment, applications and procedures. Coordinates maintenance and ensures the proper operation of core applications and hardware. Provides Tier 3 support to the organization. Responds to emergency IT situations during off-hours as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Active Directory Administration, including user rights/permissions, file/folder access, user/group account management, Domain Controller/Global Catalog server maintenance, group policies, replication, troubleshooting and upgrades.
- Responsible for daily operations, performance, health and backups of IT systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Office365, Microsoft SQL, VMware and other related storage systems.
- Performs software installations, maintenance and support, and related documentation.
- Maintains and implements the IT Lifecycle Plan. The plan includes an inventory of software and hardware; location, age, and user of equipment; cost and schedule of maintenance and replacement; recommended end user training; and insurance limits of coverage recommendations.
- Evaluates software and hardware to meet user requirements; makes written and verbal recommendations for user or management review.
- Monitors systems infrastructure, ensuring server performance is in optimal working order at all times.
- Analyzes, reviews, and alters computer systems to maintain and increase operating efficiency and system resources, minimize support and maintenance or adapt to new requirements.
- Trains users on software, hardware, and operating systems; utilizing appropriate training material or arranges training with training coordinator.
- Identifies equipment specifications and orders IT equipment in accordance with budget set by Director of IT.
- Maintains and implements the IT Continuity Plan. This plan includes identification of critical business functions supported by core applications and hardware with associated recovery time objectives, mitigation strategies, and resource requirements to ensure IT operational continuity. The plan addresses cybersecurity and documentation of disaster recovery procedures for IT datacenters and communications.
- Performs root cause analysis and develops checklists for typical problems.
- Documents internal policies and/or develops training material for end-users.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in field; includes self-study and company provided training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Must possess and maintain a valid SC driver's license.
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
