Salary Range: $61,500 - $83,100 annually
Job Summary:
The IT Trainer position is a key member of the Information Technology Department. This position will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of a city-wide software training program. The Training Program will be designed to help employees understand how to best utilize many of the key software tools used throughout the city. Systems needing training content will include the Oracle ERP (Oracle Fusion/HCM), various Microsoft products, scanning software and other productivity tools. Training exercises will include live and remote training, producing recorded content, creating user guides and providing an organized repository of training materials. Position will provide communications on updates, changes and potential impact to systems. This position will assist with onboarding and orientation of new employees. Will be required to work onsite to host live in-person training sessions but will also be able to leverage remote work as well.
*This position is a full-time, term-limited position funded for one (1) year from the date of hire, with the possibility of becoming permanent if additional funding is approved at a later date.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- Associates degree or certification related to Education, Training Development, Communication or Information Technology.
Preferred
- Experience providing technical training for variety of software applications.
- Experience with Oracle ERP systems, Microsoft tool suites, tutorial capture tools, and experience with user design.

Essential Functions:
- Develops training materials in both written and recorded format to be distributed and reused.
- Understands technical software systems such as Microsoft and Oracle ERP applications.
- Gathers training needs unique and relevant to each department throughout the organization.
- Leverages software to capture visuals and actions to demonstrate how application work.
- Creates instructional materials such as handouts, presentations, user guides, etc...
- Presents in-person, virtually or hybrid configurations.
- Schedules and manages meetings.
- Manages or conducts group activities, workshops, and/or technical discussions.
- Ensures an open and safe learning atmosphere for all levels of users.
- Conducts critical assessment of training program for continuous improvement.
- Recognizes and prioritizes training needs with overall organizational strategies and vision in mind.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- 30% Providing in person, remote and adhoc training to City employees.
- 40% Creating content from vendor supplied materials, capturing content for written and video tutorials, gathering materials and making available, written communications to staff, and working closely with IT staff to provide critical training.
- 30% Learning, testing and experimenting with software platforms. Attending demonstrations and key project meetings.
- Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.
- The essential functions of this job require occasional carrying/lifting light objects, feeling, hearing, pushing, reaching, standing, and talking; continuously fingering, grasping, repetitive motion, and sitting.
- Employee is required to have visual acuity for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Marginal to moderate hazards that are typically predictable or well protected against.
- Employee is subject to inside environment with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- Employee may be asked to drive a personal vehicle for business purposes.
- Employee may be required to travel with associated risks inherent to travel by car/air.
- Employee is subject to working alone and/or with groups and/or attends meetings.
- Employee spends extended periods of time at fixed workstation.
- Employee may be required to conduct business in alternate locations within City buildings or field sites; sometimes in formal settings.
- Employee may be required to work overtime, holidays, evenings, shifts, or weekends.
- Employee may have frequent interruptions; required to multi-task; inflexible deadlines.
- Employee may have frequent contact with the public--in person, via email/telephone and may experience adverse or confrontational situations with internal/external customers.
