Under direct/indirect supervision, the newly created role of Laboratory IT Technician will provide IT support as the subject matter expert pertaining to all Lab systems. You will interface with Lab vendors to provide appropriate IT services and oversee all vendor support., and utilize intermediate technical knowledge to implement and support Lab IT initiatives. As time permits, you will also provide technical support to the corporate environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs and provides appropriate IT technical support for the software and hardware used in the 21 CFR Part 11 compliant Quality Control Lab environment at all locations. Software includes, but not limited to: Empower, PerkinElmer, Thermo-Scientific, Malvern, LIMS, etc.
- Interface and oversee Lab software and hardware vendors. Support the Lab as the IT subject matter expert for software and the appropriate IT hardware pertaining to the Lab's instruments. Interact and manage all vendors during all visits and support calls, properly maintaining all support logs.
- Represent IT for all IT matters pertaining to the Lab.
- In addition to the Lab environment, performs general problem solving and assistance on diverse software applications and hardware systems for all users.
- Performs varied technical assistance and maintenance duties; maintains and updates ticket tracking system; document projects; writes and maintains user instructions.
- Coordinates, maintains, and inputs applicable records such as, but not limited to, network users, security, and tracking inventory levels of equipment and materials.
- Performs moderately advanced technological systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems; may troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex system hardware, software, and assist with network failures and conflicts.
- Participates in research and development initiatives and aids in the implementation of new technologies.
- Performs the installation, configuration and maintenance of computers, workstations and other related equipment and devices.
- Understanding printer operations to replace toner and rollers, performing trouble shooting and resolution.
- Maintains knowledge with respect to technology, equipment, applicable laws, regulations, standards and/or systems.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
- Knowledge of Win10/11, O365, Azure, Active Directory, PowerShell, AV Conferencing hardware and software, in addition to the Lab hardware and software.
- Knowledge of network hardware and wiring, computers, Static / DHCP IP numbers,
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
- Ability to provide functional direction to other technical support staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively.
- Ability to determine computer problems and to coordinate hardware, software, and/or network solutions.
- Ability to analyze and resolve computer problems.
- Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of PC and/or MAC
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior / Lab / office work environment across all locations that are local.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average weight objects up to 25 pounds and / or standing and / or walking an average of four hours per day.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, technical certification preferred with at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable
