POSITION SUMMARY: Supervisor, Janitorial
The Janitorial Supervisor reports to the Program Manager. The Supervisor oversees the daily activities of the janitorial staff. The following are the responsibilities and requirements of the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assigning Duties: Janitorial supervisors assign cleaning tasks to staff and regularly inspect their work to ensure that established standards are met.
- Training/ Mentoring: The janitor supervisor ensures all employees are properly trained to execute their job.
- Supply Management: They issue cleaning supplies and equipment to janitorial staff as needed, taking inventory and informing management when supplies are depleted.
- Staff Management: Janitorial supervisors assist with screening and hiring new job applicants, provide training and guidance to janitorial staff, and resolve conflicts efficiently.
- Attendance and Performance: They monitor staff attendance, report absences, and conduct staff performance reviews.
- Leadership: Effective leadership skills are essential to ensure the timely completion of staff’s janitorial duties.
- Quality assurance: They ensure that all work that is assigned is completed correctly and efficiently.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience working as a janitorial supervisor.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, working knowledge of various cleaning methods, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Physical Abilities: The ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for extended periods of time.
- Customer Service: Exceptional customer service skills are valuable in this role

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to work during inclement weather
- Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 40 lbs (supplies, trash, etc.).
- Requires frequent lifting, standing, walking, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, trainers, etc.).
- May be subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract
