The Role
FIT Middleware Engineering and Governance (MEG) group is seeking a Java Full Stack Engineer with passion to be an integral part of crafting and developing applications with a focus on defining new capabilities, improvements, maintenance, and support.
The role involves continuous collaboration with users, engagement with business partners and an iterative understanding of the platform to build well written requirements following Fidelity standard methodologies.
You must demonstrate a propensity for detail and a willingness to learn the group’s product roadmap and take responsibility for the overall product quality.
You will be responsible for ensuring a backlog of groomed work is ready for our development team to deliver upon.
The Expertise You Have
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- 6+ years of experience working in technology or a related field.
- Proven experience in Java, Spring framework, Spring boot, Restful Service is a must.
- Experience with Angular UI, TypeScript, HTML.
- Experience in Github, Insomnia and CI/CD pipeline is a must.
- Experience with production support is a must.
- Docker and Kubernetes experience is a strong plus.
- AWS experience in services like IAM, S3 and Lambda is a plus.
- Knowledge in SQL and data analysis
- Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code.
- Very good communication skills with ability to do internal demos and presentations.
- Basic knowledge or prior experience in the financial services domain a plus
- You can understand the domain in any project you work on through your ability to learn and analyze information independently.
- Collaborate with partners across business groups with unique business processes, data sets, and challenges finding the common ground needed to build the cross-asset class capabilities into MEG.
- A passion for development with the ability to navigate MEG’s metadata and statistical databases.
- You have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to groups.
- You can work towards the ability to operate independently while maintaining focus on the overall project goal.
- You will work to refine problem solving skills with the ability to determine root cause and clearly communicate the problem statement and solution.
- Proficient in Scrum methodology and practices (backlog management, sprint planning, retrospectives)
- You can work to build experience writing user acceptance tests and ensuring 100% use case coverage.
- You can work to become familiar with micro-services architecture, MEG’s applications and data APIs to aid in your development.
- You will work towards build relationships with key business partners and quickly establish trust to ensure effective delivery.
- You will learn to challenge assumptions from all interested parties to ensure the best product can be delivered.
- Gathering and incorporating feedback from management to aid in the design and development of the MEG products.
- Help define and implement the product vision, incorporating the best of both existing technologies with an eye to how future technologies can help advance the product.
- Bringing your unique perspectives and expertise to this role to make MEG an outstanding infrastructure solutions organization for MEG’s partners and clients.
MEG is a dynamic group that handles middleware development and engineering solutions for Fidelity spanning all business units. MEG develops services, frameworks and sites to manage these solutions or provide monitor applications of these solutions for our customers. MEG will become the cross-business unit solutions group for middleware and infrastructure development for Fidelity and FIT.
