Position Overview:
The Bench Jeweler/Stone Setter will be responsible for customizing and assembling fine jewelry product utilizing traditional torch soldering, laser welding and polishing processes ensuring all details and specifications are met. The Bench Jeweler must have a sharp eye for detail, and able to work closely with both the sales team and clients to ensure wait and completion times are prioritized, communicated and met. Finger dexterity is required as you will be working with small parts and small hand tools.
Hourly Rate: $18.00-$24.00 an hour ($37,440.00-$49,920.00 annual)
Responsibilities:
Bench Jeweler (60%)
- Perform assembly and soldering of all fine jewelry product using torch or a laser welding machine working primarily in gold.
- Maintain a highly organized work process following all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure department turnaround standards are met ensuring the timely completion of client orders. Communicate order updates with the sales team or management and promptly address any concerns.
- Thoroughly complete product repairs including polishing, cleaning and QC inspection of completed work.
- Continually learn all products including chains, jump rings, clasps and components for proper assembly.
- Responsible for ensuring inventory and maintenance of work tools and product.
- Keep and maintain an organized and neat workspace.
- Resize rings and complete modifications to ensure products meet precise
- Prepare silver models for molding, attach sprues, and create custom sprues for optimal metal
- Assemble two-tone bands without solder overflow or air
Stone Setting (40%)
- Set precious, semi-precious, and ornamental stones in a variety of settings (pave, prong, channel, cathedral, etc.) for rings, earrings, bracelets, and other jewelry items.
- Examine the union of stones and settings with magnifying tools to ensure
- Accurately report tasks, parts, and manage metal inventory
- Use laser and hand tools such as vises, chisels, cutters, files, and drills for preparatory
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and ensure tools and equipment are in good
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in stone setting and bench jeweling, with ability to set melee and center stones with precision and in a variety of styles (U-setting, prong, micro pave, bezel, etc.).
- Experience with various metals including 14k, 18k, Platinum, and
- Proficiency in laser welding, torch soldering, and handling a wide range of jewelry
- Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work from designs, CAD, or hand-drawn
- Strong attention to detail, able to sit for long periods, focus, and complete repetitive
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and adaptability to shifting priorities.
- Good verbal communication skills and a team-oriented
