Jira Administrator/Process Specialist
This individual will be responsible for administering Jira, customizing Jira workflows, implementing Jira customizations, and integrating Jira with other tools and systems. Additionally, the role will provide guidance on process development, ensuring the team utilizes Jira and other processes efficiently to support our agile methodologies and project management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage Jira, including user management, permission schemes, and system configurations.
- Customize Jira workflows, screens, fields, and issue types to meet the needs of different teams and projects.
- Develop and maintain custom scripts, plugins, and automation within Jira to improve efficiency and support complex workflows.
- Integrate Jira with other tools and systems (e.g., Confluence, SmartSheets, Bitbucket, Slack, CI/CD tools) to streamline processes and enhance collaboration.
- Develop and maintain Jira boards to track project issues, cost management, and change management
- Work with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, systems engineers, and marketing teams, to align tools with business and engineering objectives and processes.
- Provide support and training to team members on Jira usage, best practices, and new features.
- Develop and maintain documented training material to enable self-guided learning amongst team
- Work with stakeholders to analyze business requirements and translate them into tool (e.g., Jira) customizations and process improvements.
- Develop and document Jira-related processes and guidelines, ensuring consistency and compliance with organizational standards.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide ongoing maintenance to ensure a high level of uptime and reliability.
- Stay up to date with the latest tool (e.g., Jira, Confluence, SmartSheets) features, updates, and best practices, and proactively recommend improvements to optimize our use of the platform.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Jira Administrator or similar role, with strong knowledge of Jira administration, customization, and integrations.
- Experience with Jira add-ons and plugins (e.g., ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, Portfolio for Jira).
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience supporting Agile teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex requirements and provide effective solutions.
- Familiarity with integrating Jira with other tools and systems using APIs or middleware.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in process development and documentation.
- Certification in Jira Administration (e.g., Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of other Atlassian products such as Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
- Experience with scripting and querying languages (e.g., Groovy, JavaScript, SQL, JQL) and REST APIs.
- Project management or business analysis experience.
