Job Title: Job Coach/Trainer
Job Purpose & General Summary:
The Job Coach is responsible for the training, supervision and provision of supports for adults with disabilities in order for them to achieve success in their goals for supported and/or individual employment. The Job Coach may work directly with individuals to help them recognize, learn and retain the specific requirements of a job, work-related activities, and support services necessary to obtain and maintain employment. The Job Coach may also provide assistance to the consumer as require or requested during on-the-job training programs with awareness and approval of the employer while in performance of duties at a community-based job site. It is required that a job coach will monitor, document and record consumers training programs participation and progress.
Education Requirements: Associate degree or high school diploma or equivalent and 6 months’ relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: Person providing direct support shall within 6 months of hire start date, complete at least 9.5 hours of employment service training through the Job Coach training through Iowa APSE, College of Employment Services online Job Coaching, or through the ACRE certified training program. The person must hold or obtain within 24 months of hire, nationally recognized certification of completion of job coach training (Comparable to IVRS requirements for Iowa APSE or CES Job Coach Training). Required to complete 4 hours of continuing education in employment services annually. Certification as Medication Manager or able to obtain training and certification within 6 months of start date.
Schedule: This full-time position maintains a stable schedule of 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently within a self-directed setting and when performing duties of job coaching at off-site locations.
Background Investigation: Must successfully complete Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation background record check as well as an Iowa DHS Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Central Registry background check. Must successfully pass Federal and State OIG Medicaid Exclusion Registry check.
