Utilize Modeling and Simulation technology to plan, build, and support exercises, wargaming, experimentation, and training events in synthetic environments for Special Operations Forces (SOF) simulations and simulators. This environment provides operational support to enable integrated SOF mission planning and rehearsal for real-world combat environments. This position will support system software integration, testing, and documentation, as well as developing, maintaining and updating system hardware and software.
Responsibilities
+ Participates and coordinates with SOF elements throughout the Joint Exercise Life Cycle planning phases.
+ Conducts SOF Training Support Center preparations for the adaptation and execution of battle staff training events, to include, but not limited to, the adaptation of full mission profile exercises for tactical units and the delivery of specialized M&S user training.
+ Designs and produces training/exercise scenario injects and scripting based on the unit commanders’ statements of intent using a variety of simulation software.
+ Integrates training support data and synthetic environmental scene visualization databases into the virtual and constructive simulation system to ensure interoperability of training and exercise events.
+ Operates, troubleshoots, and maintains various M&S training software to support individual and collective SOF training and exercise requirements.
+ Documents baseline configurations and maintain processes for the configuration and resolution of M&S interoperability issues between multiple connected simulators and monitor large scale exercises, wargaming, and training events IAW the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization.
+ Ensures translation or mapping to the simulated training environment and architect virtual training scenarios to ensure accurate reflection of the commander’s directives
+ Integrate, test, and maintain approved and new and/or upgraded software and/or hardware technology enhancements.
+ Implement testing methods, record test results, and provide recommendations to improve software or tools based on the results.
Qualifications
+ Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
+ Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant area (software engineering, IT, operations research, analytics, et.al.), or the combination of specialized training, education, and experience (including military service) equivalent to a degree and required years of experience may be acceptable.
+ Recent relevant military experience supporting position requirement.
+ High degree of understanding a staff officer role with HQ USSOCOM, a Service HQ, or a CCMD HQ (4-Star military HQ).
+ Understanding and knowledge of the missions, core activities, roles, and functions of USSOCOM and its components and Sub-unified Commands.
+ Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication.
+ Has demonstrated experience with and relevant levels of training, education, experience, and expertise in IT, network engineering, M&S systems, and SOF operations to support LVC/DMO/T events.
+ Working knowledge of distributed interactive simulation (DIS), multicast, unicast, and broadcast workflows.
+ Knowledge of experimental techniques and test optimizations for small and limited sample sizes.
+ Have demonstrated an ability to balance responsibilities among assigned activities, including the ability to manage transitions effectively from task to task, and proven adaptability to varying customer needs.
Preferred Qualification:
+ Proficient user of any of the following programs: JCATS Low Overhead Driver, Modern Air Combat Environment, Joint Semiautomated Forces, Virtual Battlespace, or similar applications.
+ Knowledge in distributed interactive simulation (DIS) standards and implementation for conducting real-time platform-level wargaming.
+ Experience with exercise planning and the Joint Exercise Life Cycle.
