Full Job Description
The Journeyman Electrician leads the team in installing and directing the electrical components of solar installations, as well as handling commercial and residential electrical tasks. Responsibilities include wiring, conduit work, sizing of wires and disconnects, interconnecting, and other related tasks for grid-tied, battery back-up, or off-grid solar systems on roofs, carports, or ground-mounted systems.

Morgan's Constructive Solutions, LLC (DBA Sandia Mountain Solar) is a General and Solar Construction company that is licensed as a general, electrical, and mechanical contractor. We work throughout the state of New Mexico for residential and commercial clients. Our construction services include but are not limited to bathroom and kitchen remodeling, decks, doors and windows, flooring installations, civil dirt work, and site layouts. Our Solar Systems services include but are not limited to grid-tied, off-grid, battery back-up, carports, ground mounts, and roof-mounted (flat and pitched)
- Solar Installations: Install solar panel arrays and associated electrical components in residential and commercial settings.
- System Connections: Connect inverters, batteries, and charge controllers to ensure proper operation.
- New Construction: Install electrical wiring and equipment in new construction projects, including commercial buildings and residential homes.
- System Support: Install wiring and equipment, such as transformers and switchgear, to support solar power systems.
- Battery Installation: Install batteries, generators, and related components for solar power systems.
- Maintenance: Perform general electrical maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairing electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
- Technical Diagrams: Read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Inspections: Inspect transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
- Compliance: Follow National Electrical Code, state, and local building regulations.
- Leadership: Direct teams of electricians on projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and implement solutions to complex technical problems.
- Customer Interaction: Provide exceptional customer service throughout the installation process.
- Job Site Safety: Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards immediately.
- Team Communication: Communicate with supervisors and working crews regarding field issues.
- Positive Relationships: Build positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
- Training and Meetings: Participate in staff training and meetings.
- Supervisory Directives: Follow supervisory and administrative directives.
- Tool Management: Ensure all necessary tools are available and maintained for job tasks.
- Attendance: Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- JE98 Certification required.
- Ability to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
- Strong work ethic and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess all necessary tools for electrical work.
- Demonstrable experience in solar installations and residential/commercial construction (3+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes.
- OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain.
- Ability to train and mentor other employees.
- Maintain high levels of quality assurance and safety.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License - JE-98. (Non-negotiable)
- Proficiency with hand and power tools associated with the electrical trade.
- Ability to read and interpret single line drawings.
- Experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to climb ladders and install conduits.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
