About the Job
Responsibilities
- Installs electrical components and electrical systems which comply with Local, State, and National codes.
- Follows work “Layouts” and sketches as appropriate to assure the most cost and time effective approach is taken to complete work.
- Troubleshoots electrical systems to diagnose problems in an expedient manner.
- Communicates effectively with supervision in regard to any production roadblocks including electrical system installation problems and employee performance issues.
- Works with supervisors to establish quality control procedures including monitoring and inspection of installed electrical components and electrical systems.
- Ensures good housekeeping is maintained in all work areas and that all areas are cleaned after use and all tools have been put in their proper place for future use
- Participates in periodic safety training programs and follows all company safety practices related to or associated with electrical system activity.
- Enters actual time worked by using all company provided documents in an accurate and complete manner.
- Keeps tools and materials in a safe and secure (locked) location wherever possible at all times to eliminate theft.
- Interacts in a professional manner with supervisors, clients, and other workers to maximize effectiveness in completing projects on time and within budget.
- Actively participates in a process of “Self Development” through experience and by accepting new work assignments, which will target potential growth areas found on the “Electrician Knowledge and Skill Rating Table”.
- Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience & Licenses
- The person in this position should have a minimum of 5 years field experience and be a Licensed Journeyman Electrician along with demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills. In addition, the person must hold a valid Indiana drivers license.
- Physical
- The position requires arm and hand dexterity; must be able to walk, squat, stoop, bend, and turn; must be able to move one’s head, neck and back along with repetitive use of arms, legs, hands, and fingers.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Wears tool belt as may be required to promote work efficiencies with tool belt weights typically ranging from 10 to 20 pounds.
- Works on step ladders and extension ladders and able to relocate ladders without assistance.
- Maintains personal weight to the point where weight will not exceed equipment and ladder safe working capacities.
- Performs work at various heights and works in a safe manner from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and other elevated areas.
- Works in restricted areas including but not limited to manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces and attics.
