What You Will Do:
As a Journeyman Electrician, you will play a critical role in wiring, installing, troubleshooting, and testing instruments and PLCs.
A Typical Day at Prime Controls
- Working from diagrams and schematics, wires instruments to prepare the site for automation system design and programming.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit.
- Installs tubing for instruments.
- Pulls wiring through conduit and labels appropriately.
- Connects wiring to controllers and instruments.
- Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as (ohm, volt, amp) meter, voltmeter, amp meter and/or multimeter.
- Mounts instruments and PLCs in panels using a variety of hand tools.
- Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Travel may be required depending on the project.
- Standard tools used include hand tools, power tools (saws, drills), machinery (conduit cutters), multimeters, tubing bender and cutters.
What You Will Bring
The Basic
- 5 years’ experience as a journeyman electrician
- Previous experience with tools and equipment such as a Sawzall, drills, etc.
- Previous experience running conduit such as EMT and Rigid
- Previous experience with conduit benders
- Previous experience with installing enclosures
The Preferred
- Journeyman’s license
- Previous experience with installing stainless steel pneumatic tubing
- Previous experience with cable tray
- Previous experience with terminations
- Previous experience with material/manpower takeoffs
