What We Are Looking For
The Jr. Accountant is responsible for the orderly accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate and timely accounting of the business operations. This responsibility includes assistance with the preparation of financial statements, and patient payment posting as needed, and to provide support during the independent audits and any other reporting as well as performing other duties as requested. This position requires the ability and integrity to identify transactions and processes that should be communicated to the finance leadership including lack of controls and/or inaccuracies and/or unauthorized transactions.
Schedule: 4 Days per Week, 10 Hours per Day, Monday - Thursday, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm | Location: San Bernardino, CA
This position has no hybrid or remote opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES
- Performs all duties as assigned in the completion of the monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows.
- Review and/or prepare check requests, and expense reports to ensure they are filled out correctly and have appropriate backup and authorization.
- Prepares all internal and external reporting as directed.
- Reports all transactions, processes, and controls that would impact the integrity of the financial statements and those transactions with any impact over 1% to revenue, expense, adjustments, assets, liabilities, and/or exceed $1,000, whichever is less.
- Maintains Petty Cash records and funds with review by the designated individual.
- Assists in the annual audits by providing reports requested.
- Reviews electronic claims posting to review both under and overpayment from payers.
- Performs accounts payable input of information into the SAGE MIP accounts payable system for related payments.
- Manual accounting on subaccounts related to donation accounts and other funded accounts.
- Performs all journal entries as assigned.
- Verification of bills from Foundation Labs for Sliding Fee patients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: : A high school diploma is required. Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Valid California driver's license.
- Experience: 3+ years in related accounting position. Training in computer programs such as NextGen, SAGE MIP, Microsoft Word, Office, Excel and Access preferred.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: The ability to use a computer on a routine basis and complete training on required information management systems as well as other programs needed to fulfill duties, and required documentation; strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Interpersonal Skills: Problem-solver and analytical thinker. Detail- and process-oriented. Highly organized with attention to detail. Ability to successfully navigate ambiguity and independently seek answers or guidance. Team player who helps drive solutions. Strong interpersonal relations skills: ability to maintain a professional attitude in difficult situations and communicate effectively; ability to work with a variety of disciplines and levels of staff across departments and the enterprise.
- Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to gather, read, analyze, and interpret complex data and create accurate meaningful information for data reporting and decision support.
