About the Job
Marathon is looking for a Junior Network Engineer on an effort supporting our Federal Government Client in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will provide technical engineering support for our large federal government agency's highly complex network infrastructure environment to include multiple enclaves comprising various classification levels.
Network engineering support includes all engineering activities required to support the standard information technology lifecycle. The ideal candidate will provide design and engineering activities in support of new network solutions for a multi-enclave enterprise network environment which encompasses various technology. In addition, the candidate will provide network support on an as needed basis to resolve networking issues that have not been resolved by the first three support tiers.
Core Responsibilities- Monitoring and analyzing enterprise networks and network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers encryptors, etc.
- Provide expert technical guidance and support to the Government, Project Lead, and other Network Analyst in support of monitoring and managing the customer networks.
- Maintain awareness of trends and best practices related to networks, technology and IT-related topics and provide recommendations on possible improvements or changes to customer systems and processes.
- Provide high-quality and professional customer service in all interactions.
- Use the Enterprise Network Monitoring Platform to analyze and provide data and documentation related to the network performance of any or all network components.
- Serve as initial point of contact to resolve networking problems.
- Provide excellent and professional customer service in all interactions.
Requirements
- Active Top-Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI
- 1-3 years of relevant IT experience with specialization in networking technologies, specifically with Cisco switches and routers and resolving LAN/WAN issues
- Basic knowledge of IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, Stateful firewalls and encryption technologies
- Working knowledge of network management tools, such as Riverbed, Wireshark, Micro Focus Network Automation, etc.
- Working knowledge of web applications, web servers, application load balancers and storage systems. Must have good knowledge of general security tools and methodologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS and access control lists.
Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications
- CCNA Certification
- A.S. degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related area
- Experience in network engineering within the federal intelligence community
- Ability to adhere to a disciplined troubleshooting methodology, and ensure task/mission completion, along with creating and maintaining necessary information.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail.
