Jr Network Security Engineer

A network engineer is responsible for providing support to business and technology initiatives through consultation, technical support, and solution implementation. Through partnership with IT and business partners, you will gather requirements, work with other team members to design resilient and fiscally sound solutions and then implement and test those designs. You may also perform troubleshooting, isolation, and resolution for service impacting events, work to identify root cause and create preventative and proactive measures to deploy in the enterprise. You desire to learn new technologies and products, independently, using documentation and online resources will be critical to your success.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Maintain and support networking hardware and software, including but not limited to the evaluation, development, and recommendation specific network technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements • Design, deploy, and maintain LAN/WAN/WLAN solutions to medium and large size enterprise offices • Monitor, manage, and tune networks to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved • Assess business and technology initiatives, providing consultation, technical support, and recommendations to optimally utilize the enterprise network infrastructure • Research and design reference models to standardize network architecture and manage network life-cycle planning • Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery, creating preventative measures to deploy in the enterprise • Create and maintain support documentation and technical drawings of the enterprise network infrastructure
Technical skills include a strong working knowledge of data communications.
• Data includes IP communications – IP services (DNS, DHCP, Bootp), routing protocols (OSPF and BGP), network security (firewalls, access list, authentication LDAP / Radius, encryption, VPN), LAN, WAN, and wireless technologies.
Technical skills may also include experience with one or more of the following: VMWare, Linux, Opnet, and network infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS,SFTP, TACACS, RADIUS).
A thorough understanding of the OSI model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP and IP subnetting is required
