Junior Accountant - Comstock Companies

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily entry and processing of wire and ACH payments
• Perform daily detailed reconciliation of cash accounts to assess cash requirements, proper clearance of payments, etc.
• Record incoming and outgoing cash payments and research/resolve discrepancies or processing issues
• Prepare related general ledger journal entries, including reconciliations and variance analysis
• Deliver owner and lender-required reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly reconciliations of bank accounts
• Prepare budget-to-actual variances, lead schedules, and financial reports needed for monthly close and SEC reporting
• Support and maintain strong internal control policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with various employees and management across the company
• Support team for other general accounting items and projects as required

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Strong accounting skills with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP
• Understanding of property management in relation to financial accounting, recoveries, budgeting and forecasting 
• Real estate ERP experience (Yardi preferred)
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
• Exceptional oral and written communication, active listening, and organizational skills
• Flexible team player with a can-do, positive attitude
• Strong work ethic and willingness to constantly learn/improve
• Highly credible and trustworthy; desire to be accountable and strive for excellence

• Ability to establish strong working relationships with others in fast-paced team setting
