We are seeking a full-time Junior Accountant who will support corporate accounting functions by processing general ledger transactions, perform the monthly close process and perform other general ledger responsibilities.
Our ideal candidate is self-motivated. We are looking for a strong problem-solver who can apply his/her customer service skills to a wide range of projects and activities. Communication is very important as you will be working with associates at all levels of the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Compile, review, analyze and record financial information to the general ledger.
- Prepare daily reconciliations to ensure general ledger account information is accurate, consistent, traceable and auditable.
- Print warehouse line reports and bank statements.
- Upload daily reports to specific accounting system.
- Reconcile and upload daily disbursement and funding templates data to accounting system.
- Reconcile bank accounts and cash balance daily.
- Communicate with other departments to fix any discrepancies.
- Prepare JEs and assist AP to upload JEs.
- Participate in audits, ensuring responses are timely and deadlines are met.
- Participate in ensuring filing system is effective in supporting clear and traceable audit trails.
- Support management through timely performance of a variety of other accounting and financial tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, preferred;
- Familiarity with general accepted accounting principles, preferred;
- Must be proficient in Excel and other similar business applications;
- Mortgage industry and servicing experience, a plus.

Aside from the requirements above, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in exceptional follow-up and customer service, and must be able to prioritize multiple projects to ensure deadlines are met. Must also be able to demonstrate initiative and use independent judgment within Guidance's established guidelines and procedures.
