The Opportunity:
We are seeking a compassionate and collaborative Family Law Associate Attorney to join our team. This is more than just a legal role, it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of families going through difficult times. You’ll work with a diverse caseload of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and domestic violence cases. The right candidate will not only bring legal skills but also empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. This is an exciting time to be joining our firm, as we are experiencing growth and moving into new office space in early 2025!
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a variety of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, alimony, and property division.
- Advise clients on their rights and options, providing clear and compassionate counsel.
- Draft and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and agreements.
- Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediation.
- Litigate cases when needed, preparing for and conducting trials.
- Stay updated on Maryland family law, case law, and procedural rules.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure excellent client service and case management.
- Support the firm’s marketing and community outreach efforts.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership with the Maryland State Bar.
- Strong interest in family law and a commitment to helping clients through challenging times.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to negotiate and litigate effectively.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset, along with the ability to work independently when needed.
- Proficiency in legal research and writing, with experience in case management software preferred.
- Compassionate, empathetic approach to client interactions.
