The Junior Interior Designer assists senior designers in creating functional, aesthetically pleasing interior spaces. This entry-level role involves supporting various aspects of the design process, from initial concept development to project execution. It provides a valuable opportunity for individuals to gain experience and develop their skills in the field of interior design.
Responsibilities
+ Assisting with Design Development:
+ Support senior designers in developing design concepts that meet client needs and preferences.
+ Create initial sketches, mood boards, and 3D renderings under the guidance of senior designers.
+ Space Planning:
+ Strong command of floor planning skillset to produce interior space and furniture plans, ensuring functionality and efficient use of space
+ Heavy use of AutoCAD to create floor plans, elevations, architectural details and as-builts to the construction team as needed.
+ Material and Product Research:
+ Research and source materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes that align with the design concept.
+ Prepare material boards and product samples for client presentations.
+ Project Coordination:
+ Help coordinate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to ensure the integration of interior designs with overall project plans.
+ Assist in managing project timelines and schedules.
+ Client Interaction:
+ Participate in client meetings to understand project requirements and preferences.
+ Assist in preparing and presenting design proposals to clients, incorporating their feedback.
+ Documentation and Reporting:
+ Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and meeting notes.
+ Prepare regular progress reports for senior designers and clients.
+ Budget Assistance:
+ Support the development and management of project budgets, tracking costs and expenditures.
+ Help identify cost-effective solutions and alternatives for design elements.
+ Quality Assurance :
+ Assist in implementing quality control processes to ensure design work meets industry standards and project specifications.
+ Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor the progress of design implementation.
+ Compliance and Safety:
+ Ensure that designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and accessibility standards.
+ Help obtain necessary permits and approvals for design work.
+ Administrative Support:
+ Provide general administrative support to the design team, including scheduling meetings and managing communications.
+ Assist in organizing and maintaining project files and resources.
Qualifications
+ 2 Years of Experience.
+ Previous experience in interior design; some commercial experience beneficial, with good understanding of building codes for interiors and ADA guidelines is beneficial.
+ Basic design skills with an understanding of aesthetics, color theory, and spatial arrangements
+ Proficiency in design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or other industry-standard software with a strong skillset in space planning.
+ Strong use of AutoCAD to create floor plans, elevations, architectural details and as-builts to the construction team as needed.
+ Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and clients.
+ A high level of creativity and innovation to contribute to design concepts and solutions.
+ Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in design work.
+ Analytical and problem-solving abilities to address design challenges and issues.
+ Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
+ Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other design professionals.
+ A client-focused approach, with the ability to understand and meet client needs and preferences.
