1. Position
- Junior Millwright
- FLSA Classification(s): Non-Exempt/Hourly
2. Job Summary
- The Junior Millwright performs mechanical maintenance on all plant equipment.
3. Immediate Supervisor
- This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor
4. Standards
- Provide exceptional customer service to all customers, suppliers, and employees.
- Constantly represent Axis Pipe and Tube in a positive and professional manner regardless of customer requests, complaints, or demeanor.
- Comply with Axiss policies and procedures.
- Interact with other employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Communicating all matters relating to the work being undertaken and any significant issues to the supervisor.
5. Responsibilities
- Works with mechanical repair personnel, operating personnel, and other maintenance personnel to analyze problems and to reduce operating downtime.
- Collaborates closely with operating personnel in the solution of problems or in the improvement of operating equipment.
- Maintains adequate mechanical supplies, equipment, and tools.
- Submits reports concerning the condition of equipment and need for repairs or replacement.
- Reports unsolved problems or changes in equipment or method of operation to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Attends schools, classes, meetings, or seminars recommended by or scheduled by management.
- Performs preventative maintenance to all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment throughout the plant.
- Assists in size changes where required or requested by operating management.
- Understands and follows company rules and regulations concerning conduct.
- Understands and follows Federal, Local and Company safety rules and regulations.
- Accepts additional responsibility and assignments from management which may not be listed in the job description for this position.
- Repair mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
- Instruct mechanical repair personnel and other personnel on hazards and mechanical safety procedures.
- Perform preventative maintenance to all mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
- Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.
6. Qualifications
- High School Diploma, OR Equivalency Certificate, (GED (General Education Degree))
- Trade School or Industrial Apprenticeship in mechanical or hydraulic trades.
- At least two (2) years experience as apprentice or trainee mechanical technician (millwright), hydraulic technician or mechanical helper.
- Must be able to read and understand the Procedures and Work Instructions for the position held.
- Reasonable knowledge in hand-held measuring devices, micrometers, measuring tapes
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements
7. Working Conditions
- This position requires frequent communication, both written and oral.
- The work environment for this position is primarily in a manufacturing plant with loud noise from heavy machinery, grease, and dirt.
- There may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extreme cold and heat, handling hazardous chemicals, bad odors, dirt, and dust.
- Workers will be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and work in confined spaces.
- Work might involve pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy materials.
- Position requires the use of personal protective equipment.
8. Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. The employee is occasio ally required to sit.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Hiring Process Information:
Employment requires successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
