As part of our ongoing expansion in North America, we seek a motivated Product Support Engineer to join our team.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Product Engineers, the position of Junior Product Engineer is responsible for helping to support the full life cycle of the metra®. This includes assisting with managing performance in the field, supplier and manufacturing related upgrades, and with feature enhancements as well. This role will report directly to the SVP, Product Engineering and partner with other Product Engineering team members in Madison NJ and Oxford UK.
Listed below are the key responsibilities of the role and a brief description of some of the key tasks to be performed. This list is not totally inclusive, and the person will be expected to complete tasks reasonably requested by the SVP, Product Engineering.

Major Responsibilities
Under direction from the SVP, Product Engineering, and as part of a small multi-disciplinary Product Engineering team, the Junior Product Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Lending support to investigations into the root cause of failures, under the supervision of the Senior Product Engineers.
- Learning to develop close partnerships with field-based customer service, operations and quality teams.
- Supporting the team in the creation of assembly instructions and outputs required by the Operations team, to ensure the transfer of designs to production are delivered in accordance with design change and operational SOPs.
- Assisting the New Product Development and Operations teams throughout development projects with a focus on supporting design reviews and design transfer activities. Supporting the Senior Product Engineers by working on problems for production support, quality improvements, and line extensions.
- Studying and understanding the product’s intended use, clinical procedures, customer needs and design inputs.
- Helping to create, maintain and/or refine engineering documentation.
- Following, learning, and contributing to R&D procedures, such as failure analysis, design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
- Assisting with prototyping efforts and bench testing.
- Assisting the Senior Product Engineers with preparing visualizations and conclusions for presentation to upper management.
- Demonstrating ownership and integrity of work, a spirit of volunteerism, a passion for excellence and our products, and a hands-on approach to engineering.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related
- 0-5 years of work experience
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
- Knowledge of design and concept generation, and engineering analysis utilizing CAD and CAE tools.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.
Preferred Experience
- Medical device industry experience
- Previous experience in medical devices under ISO 13485 QMS
- Supplier management experience
