Job Summary
We are currently seeking high-energy professionals who are results-focused with sound business acumen and problem-solving skills to join our dynamic organization as a Specialty Products Jr. Trader. Ideal candidates should be natural team players and have an eye for innovation and continuous improvement.As a Specialty Products Jr. Trader, this individual will assist the execution of trading strategies for CITGO's Asset Backed Trading Business. The applicant should have an understanding of refined products for the U.S. and Global markets, able to grasp Regional and Global arbitrage concepts, in addition to a comprehension of petroleum logistics and refining operations. The individual must have a basic understanding of the dynamics of physical trading and derivatives markets to identify opportunities to optimize profit around CITGO's system.This position would be able to carry negotiations on spot basis and ensure Term contracts are performed in accordance with agreed terms. This person will use negotiating skills to resolve commercial disputes and should be capable to develop market insights and views based on market fundamentals. This position works closely with Compliance to ensure both CITGO and counterparties abide by all current trade restrictions and operate in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This position work with Risk Control group to ensure trading is within established risk and trading authorities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Degree Level (or equivalent) in one of the following fields is preferred: Chemical Engineering, Economics, Business.
- Master's Degree Preferred.
- 2+ years of industry/trading experience.
- Excellent record - in previous and current roles - of being strongly driven towards future success.
- Demonstrated positive influence and teamwork behaviors.
- A self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a dynamic high-pressure diverse team environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of fundamental and technical market data to propose profitable trades and trading strategies and to manage company exposure.
- Demonstrated understanding in physical marketing, supply and/or trading, including inventory management, hedging, and position taking.
- Demonstrated understanding of Regional and/or Global markets, market exposure (accustomed to trade within VAR limits), risk management, blending and arbitrage economics.
- Demonstrated understanding of detailed commercial negotiations.
- Demonstrated experience in using analytical and problem-solving techniques.
- A flexible approach to working hours is vital to accommodate the significant variation in workloads associated with a busy trading operation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Periodic travel may be required.
- 24 hrs. availability - must carry cell phone.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Job Duties
- Executes trading strategies in a fast-paced environment that result in increased profitability for CITGO Trading book.
- Trades refined products physical and financial commodities in pursuit of system optimization and trading for profit.
- Tracks PnL position and ensures that all trades are properly capture in the ETRM system.
- Exhibits and demonstrates strong operational excellence and discipline in managing trading positions.
- Coordinates logistical arrangements with logistics and refinery groups to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of product shipments.
- Negotiates spot and ensures Term contracts are performed in accordance with agreed terms.
- Resolves commercial disputes through negotiating skills.
- Develops a culture of excellence that identifies and pursues entrepreneurial commercial opportunities.
- Engages with industry experts and maintains strong internal and external relationships.
- Provides visible leadership by working with other team members in the development of regional and global trading strategies.
- Communicates clearly on trading strategies, transactions, and positions.
- Works with the CITGO refineries and CITGO Marketing group in pursuit of system optimization and reliable competitive supply.
- Develops new business opportunities to increase existing deal flow.
