Currently, we are hiring for the following position;

Junior Systems Administrator

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Director of Systems, the Junior Systems Administrator deploys, maintains, and troubleshoots all data center systems.This includes but is not limited to permissions, modifications, configuration, backups, restores, provisioning of resources, and other related activities. The Junior Systems Administrator participates in system builds, installations, and maintenance.The Junior Systems Administrator monitors the daily health of the operating systems and responds to backup related issues. Flexibility to work required hours to address critical department needs, on-call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year with defined response time 24 hours, except when on vacation.




PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
 

1. Builds, manages, configures and monitors windows core and infrastructure. This includes management of security tools for anti-spam and antivirus.

1. Supports Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 and Windows 10 in an Active Directory environment.

1. Manages Microsoft Active Directory services, including all aspects of Active Directory user account maintenance: Server backup, restore, patching, quota maintenance.

1. Supports and manages file and printer services provided to the users.

1. Ensures all changes are made in accordance with FDU's change control, security, and risk assessment policies.

 

1. Maintains a working knowledge of continuing developments in the field of Computer Security.

1. Analyzes information and evaluates results to recommend process improvements, choose effective solutions, and solve problems.

1. Follows Change Management process for all changes to production systems, including documenting all changes made to systems.

1. Provides end-user support, which includes the resolution of support tickets assigned to the department.

1. Maintains broad technical knowledge of current and emerging technologies.

1. Flexibility to work required hours to address critical department needs, on-call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year with defined response time 24 hours, except when on vacation.

1. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of a BS in Computer Science or equivalent plus 2 years experience in Microsoft Systems Administration. Microsoft certification a plus.

1. Ability to perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of windows systems.

1. Strong knowledge of setting up, maintaining, and monitoring system hardware in data centers with minimal guidance.

1. Strong knowledge managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, DNS, DHCP, and ADFS

1. Experience managing ADFS and directory sync into Azure AD.

1. Experience utilizing various backup software in a virtualized environment like Veeam. Ability to review, troubleshoot and restore systems from backup software as needed..

1. Knowledge in VMware infrastructure with multisite replication and SRM.

1. Familiarity in working with relational database management systems (SQL, MySQL.).

1. General knowledge of Cloud technologies, Networking, TCP/IP, and networking protocols (NFS, CIFS, SMB2).

1. Effective organizational skills to meet schedules and timelines. Must be able to work independently and produce deliverables to manage deadlines.

1. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and balance priorities with good time management skills.

1. Strong coordination and planning skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.

1. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

 

1. Good verbal and written communication skills.

1. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of university personnel and students.

1. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to creatively challenge current methods and procedures.

1. Independent learner and self-directed; takes the initiative while working within a team context.

1. Must enjoy researching new technologies, learning, and expanding one's knowledge.

1. Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies to the best of one's ability.

1. Valid driver's license and access to transportation for travel between campuses.
