Kansas City Engineer Co-Op
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- Collaborate and Learn: Partner with our talented engineers and staff to enhance chemical processes, improve yields, reduce waste, and cut down cycle times;
- Project Development: Help shape project objectives and scope by analyzing stakeholder requirements and basic design packages;
- Standards Compliance: Ensure all projects meet engineering standards, OSHA/EPA regulations, plant safety protocols, and environmental guidelines;
- Maintenance Insights: Work with facilities and reliability engineers to understand maintenance and reliability programs in chemical plants;
- Engineering Calculations: Perform and verify engineering calculations using standard methods and principles;
- Procurement Assistance: Support the procurement process, including equipment specifications, bid evaluations, and contract administration;
- Feasibility Studies: Conduct engineering cost, feasibility, and planning studies, providing recommendations based on stakeholder needs and data analysis;
- Daily Collaboration: Team up with production and technical staff for process troubleshooting and problem-solving;
- Design Support: Assist the process team with computer-aided modeling software to produce desired installations;
- Operational Excellence: Contribute to the implementation of our Operational Excellence program and support site-wide Process Improvement/Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:

Education: Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering;

Academic Achievement: Successfully completed your sophomore year or higher with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0;

Tech-Savvy: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

Location: Able to commute daily to our site in Kansas City, MO;

Physical Ability: Willing and able to climb stairs and ladders;

Environment: Ready to work in a dynamic chemical plant setting.
