Badger Veterinary Hospital is seeking a boarding assistant part-time to join our growing team. Dedicated to the life and love of pets, our three hospital locations provide small animal care, laser surgery, chiropractic care, grooming, and boarding services
Position Overview: Job duties are in a hospital setting and include; administering food and medications, cleaning, supervising dog playgroups, effective communication with doctors, staff and clients, and responding to phone calls and e-mails related to boarding. The ideal candidate would be; customer service oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently, and able to work with animals of all sizes and temperaments. Previous work experience with animals preferred. Some nights, weekend and holiday hours are required.
Essential Functions:
- Perform boarding services per supervisor and client instructions
- Comfort, calm, and work with nervous dogs to promote a positive experience
- Positive attitude towards all pets and their owners as well as comfort with all breeds of dogs and cats
- Direct customer service experience to establish a trusting bond with our clients and to handle potentially difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
- High standard for cleanliness and the self-direction to keep your workstation neat and tidy
- Ability to receive feedback from supervisor and clients

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Some experience working at a kennel or animal hospital preferred
Position Requirements:
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work weekends, overnights and holidays
- This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion
- Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks may include standing for long period of times/walking
- May involve some stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds)
Schedule:
Department is staffed from 7am-9pm daily.
Some weekends and holidays
Shifts vary depending on department and staffing needs.
Typical shifts are 5 hours or 8 hours.
