KIA Sr. Interior Designer - Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI)

KIA America Design Center is currently looking for a Senior Interior Designer for our Future Design Team in our Design Studio in Irvine, CA that will:

Responsibilities:

• Create striking Interior Design proposals and Design details for Show cars and production projects.
• Visualization and development of these Design proposals in form of sketches, renderings and 3-D models, and their presentation to the management.
• Research and analysis of trends in overall packaging, dimensions, material, and products using online and print resources and by attending auto shows and other inspiring and/or educational events.
• Provide guidance and direction for CAD and clay modelers during the Design development phase.
• Meet with Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Design Team to discuss Design criteria. Incorporate into the Design proposal the criteria provided.
• Provide oversight, guidance, and support to vendors producing one-of-a-kind "Concept Vehicles" for internal events as well as for Auto shows worldwide.
• Travel to Korea to oversee further product development by working with the Korean Design and Engineering teams.
• Benchmark competitive vehicles to aid Interior Design and packaging direction.
• Travel up to 15% of the time domestically and internationally.
• Mentor and offer guidance to other Designers and Interns in the team about Interior Design, Visualization techniques, form language, packaging and overall proportions.
• Lead by example and not by authority.
• Apply common sense to create true innovations and not only the evolutionary process thinking.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Automotive, or Transportation Design
• Strong ability to utilize various types of 2D and 3D visualization Software (Adobe Suite, Vred, Keyshot, etc.) and strong modeling skills (Alias, Alias Sub-D, Blender,etc).
• Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a respective Design field, preferably in the Automotive industry.
• Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai/KIA must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification will be required at the time of hire.
