Job Function: The Kid Zone Holiday Coordinator will be responsible for intake of children to the Kid Zone. They will provide an enjoyable experience for the children while their parents and /or guardian is shopping for the holiday. They will coordinate Volunteers Leads and volunteers in the daily function of the Kid Zone.
Essential Responsibilities
- Use knowledge of best practices and the highest standard of care to plan and administer developmentally activities for children in the holiday tent. Use Promiseland policies and the mission, vision, and guiding values of Metropolitan Ministries as a framework to assure activities are delivered with concern for the care, safety and welfare of our children and their families.
- Works with Volunteer Services to identify volunteers and collaborative partnerships to support the flow of the Kid Zone area of responsibility in the holiday tent.
- Assist with training and managing volunteers to ensure volunteers adhere to safety procedures.
- Meets regularly with Associate Director and Senior Manager of Volunteers Services to address issues or concerns.
- Manage all shifts during the holiday season to ensure that all shifts are covered.
- Provides overall support and exercises leadership as needed during extended hours (holiday registration and holiday distribution).
- Support the team in other tasks as assigned and attends all team meetings.
- Ensures that Kid Zone toys, books and furniture are cleaned and sanitized daily.
- Sets up the Kid Zone area and ensures that toys, puzzle and books are in good condition as well as creating activities for the children to stay engaged.
Education and Experience: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. A minimum 5 hours of training in literacy required. A minimum of 1year experience working, volunteering or interning with a Early Childhood Teacher.
Skill Requirements: Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work and communicate with low socio-economic and diverse parents and clients in a professional and diplomatic manner. Ability to plan, organize and conduct early childhood education programs. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to use a computer and related software. Ability to work effectively with others within a multi-disciplinary team framework including staff and volunteers. Ability to supervise and direct volunteers. Demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture and other sources of diversity.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40pounds. Hearing and speaking ability, which allows for effective oral communication of information. Physical, emotional and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.
Other:
Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
