- JOB SUMMARY
- The KLC State Registered Nursing Aide (SRNA/CNA) provides long term care nursing and related nursing services to residents consistent with each resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care. All resident care is provided in a manner that meets the resident’s physical, mental and psycho social needs and enables the individual to attain or maintain the highest practicable level of functioning. The SRNA/CNA maintains a homelike environment for the residents, protects and promotes resident rights and assists the person to maintain independence and control to the greatest extent possible.
- DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
- Provides direct care to residents to improve or maintain the resident’s abilities according to the residents’ plan of care. Regularly assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), which includes assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, transferring and feeding of assigned residents by providing set-up assistance, verbal prompts, physical supports or more extensive assistance.
- Assists with transport of resident to tub or shower. Adjusts water temperature. Washes and rinses resident. Dries body thoroughly with clean towels. Maintains privacy for resident at all times.
- Locates, selects and obtains clothing for resident. Assists residents with snaps, zippers or buttons after donning clothes or removing them. Recognizes clothing in need of repair and communicates clothing needs to resident and to units charge nurse.
- Promptly assists resident to bathroom according to toileting schedule, or promptly brings clean bedpan or urinal. Opens, removes clothing in preparation, cleans resident if needed, adjusts clothing, cleans resident’s and own hands. Measures and records output as directed by charge nurse and plan of care. Provides catheter care according to facility procedure and infection control policies.
- Assists resident or provides range of motion exercises to all joints. Provides weight-bearing assistance or physical support for ambulating. Pushes wheelchair or Geri-chair if needed. Maintains safe environment for mobile resident by removing obstacles, inspecting equipment and reporting defects to charge nurse. Monitors resident progress toward treatment goals and reports responses to charge nurse.
- EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum requirement:
- High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved State Registered Nursing Assistant/Aide Program such as (SRNA), (STNA), (CNA) or other state.
- Hold current certification as a State Registered Nursing Aide (SRNA) in the State of Kentucky.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Minimum of three months direct care experience in a healthcare setting.

Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: shift rotation, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in the nursing home, death, and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
