About the Department:
The George Mason University Child Development Center provides early care and education through an emergent, play-based preschool program. We are committed to prioritizing the healthy development of each individual student within an environment that emphasizes whole food nutrition, social-emotional skills, and nature-based play. Our program celebrates the diverse cultures, languages, ethnicities, and family structures of our community.
About the Position:
This position will assist the CDC Food Service Manager with the daily food management of the Child Development Center. This role plays an integral part in ensuring the health and safety of all students through helping to provide a nutritious diet and maintain allergy prevention.

About the Position:
This position will assist the CDC Food Service Manager with the daily food management of the Child Development Center. This role plays an integral part in ensuring the health and safety of all students through helping to provide a nutritious diet and maintain allergy prevention.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily food counts to ensure adequate portions for children and staff;
- Inspect and sign for all food upon Sodexo delivery to the CDC to ensure correct temperatures are maintained and delivery is accurate;
- Assist with daily cleaning of the kitchen, staff break room and multi-purpose room in accordance with VA Department of Health standards;
- Attend and assist with meal set-up for center events and staff training; and
- Ensure all allergens are managed from the kitchen to support allergy prevention in the classrooms.
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- Possess a current certified Northern Virginia Limited Food card;
- Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S.;
- Ability to work Monday through Friday from 10:00 - 2:00 with the possibility of additional hours, up to 29 hours/week;
- Background check clearance and TB risk assessment; and
- Ability to lift approximately 20 pounds and stand for prolonged periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience with Food Service in a school kitchen/cafeteria or related venue.
