Kitchen Manager Job Summary
Successful fast paced restaurant is looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee daily operations. In this role, you oversee the kitchen and other back-of-house staff. As part of your staff management responsibilities, you hire and train new employees, complete the weekly schedule, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations. You also place food orders, working with staff to reduce food waste. Applicants must have experience working in a high-volume kitchen, preferably in a fine dining environment.
Kitchen Manager Duties and Responsibilities
· Hire and train kitchen employees
· Oversee schedule of kitchen employees
· Help oversee daily restaurant operations
· Manage food inventory, placing food and beverage orders as needed
· Work with staff to reduce food waste
· Ensure compliance with food safety regulations
· Responsible for equipment maitanance
· Cleanliness of Kitchen and Supplies
Responsibilities
Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders
Ensure quality and taste of food in compliance
Supervise food prep and cooking
Check food plating and temperature
Establish portion sizes
Schedule kitchen staff shifts
Price menu items in collaboration with the Restaurant Manager
Order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed
Train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques
Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g. in refrigerators)
Keep weekly and monthly cost reports
Work in positions were needed to ensure a smooth operation.
Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area
Kitchen Manager Requirements and Qualifications
· Culinary degree or training a plus
· Experience working in a high-volume restaurant kitchen is required
· Prior restaurant management roles preferred
· Organizational and time management skills
· Excellent organizational skills
· Conflict management abilities
· Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment
· Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends.
· Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management is a plus
· Serv Safe Preferred
· Excel and Word Knowledge
