Job Description
The Kitchen Supervisor will assist the Kitchen Manager in day-to-day operations. An individual in this position is expected to make daily decisions that drive guest satisfaction, team engagement, and make sound financial decisions for the restaurant. An individual in this position will have the ability to work various stations as needed.
The Kitchen Supervisor will assist with:
- Ensure that every item is prepared safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard.
- Lead a culinary team, effectively delegate responsibilities, maximize productivity, set and maintain high standards, and build strong relationships with team members, vendors and guests.
- Training and development of new team members
- General day-to-day operational tasks, such as scheduling and opening and closing responsibilities
- Overseeing team members and reinforcing Tortazo's mission and core values
In addition, the Lead Line Cook must ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety, occupational safety, and employment guidelines. We are seeking an individual who has experience in the food service industry and can work in a fast-paced environment. We want passionate leaders who are eager to grow professionally and can confidently support
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Maintain clean, safe work stations throughout the shift and break down at the end of the shift
- Communicate to the culinary manager and team for inventory, prep and walk-in needs. Ensuring we are always stocked with food.
- Learn and maintain knowledge on Mexican cuisine and execute different menu items seasonally
- Receiving and putting away orders and help with various kitchen tasks
- Ability to interact with team members and customers to successfully problem solve.
Job Qualifications:
- Proficiency in knife skills and kitchen equipment while maintaining a clean and safe restaurant
- Proven track record of being dependable, self-motivated and organized
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining safety standards and procedures
- Ability to work early morning hours or late-night hours, including weekends
- Training & certifications based on city/state requirements
Physical Functions:
- Ability to stand/walk an extended period of time per day
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Will frequently reach, bend, stoop, carry, and key in data
- Work in both warm and cool environments
- Ability to function in a high level of noise from music, guests, and kitchen environment
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish
