SCOPE OF WORK: Oversees daily functioning of instructional labs. To assist primary instructor with psychomotor instruction based on National Registry guidelines of instructor/student ratio. This position shall report to the Department Chair for Fire Science Technologies. Schedule would involve Thursdays between 4 - 12 hours per week as arranged with the hiring manager.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assists instructor with set-up of workstations and classrooms.
- Assists students with lab work, locates equipment and ensures safety while in the labs.
- Maintains a general order in the lab and organizes tools and equipment.
- Maintains Storage Room.
- Maintains all pertinent documents associated with instructor and students.
- Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate’s degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a major study in fire technology or medical-related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Two (2) years’ field experience working in either a fire department or hospital or ambulance service. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Licenses/Certifications: Current nationally registered EMT-B or AEMT.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of the procedures and practices associated with the emergency medical service. Considerable knowledge of the use of all tools and equipment in the application of techniques used in patient care. Ability to follow standard laboratory methods and procedures. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to maintain student documentation. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college’s appointing authority.
