Job Summary
As a co-op/ intern for the Center of Innovation (COI) you will focus on learning and help in physical and chemical characterization as well as different tribology tests with metalworking fluid samples for the new product development projects in Center of Innovation (COI) Global MWF group in Conshohocken.
What will you do
- Make metalworking fluid samples and formulas according to the instructions from the senior chemist or the manager
- Perform some tests to confirm the physical and chemical properties as well as performance properties such as foam, emulsion stability, stability etc. with the samples by wet chemistries and sophisticated instruments like Turbiscan, MEP and high-pressure foam tester etc
- Carry-out some tribological tests with state-of-art instruments such as Microtap, Bruker/Rtec tribometers and microscope/profilometers to obtain lubricity and surface roughness data
- Need to do some data treatment and scientific graphs with experiment data. Also, may need to write brief reports and presentations
What do we look for
- Second- or third-year student majoring in chemical engineering (preferred) or chemistry or material engineering.
- The knowledge and experiences in some programming with Python and the process of Design of Experiments (DoE) are preferred.
